The TDA2030 is a popular pentawatt – TO-220 package Class AB audio amplifier IC designed for low-distortion, high-quality sound output. Delivering up to 14 watts of clear audio with excellent thermal and short-circuit protection, it’s ideal for DIY amplifier projects, speaker repairs, radios, and subwoofer systems.
Used in popular brands like Sayona, Von, Golden Star, and many all-in-one subwoofer systems, the TDA2030 delivers excellent audio output—especially when properly assembled and paired with the right speaker.
Whether you’re fixing an old Hi-Fi system, building a mono amp, or replacing a damaged chip in your sound setup, the TDA2030 offers rock-solid performance and reliability. Its compact TO-220 package makes it easy to solder and mount on heatsinks.
Designed by STMicroelectronics and widely used across the world, the TDA2030 runs comfortably on ±12V to ±18V dual supplies or a single 24V–36V supply, offering flexibility for both home and automotive audio setups and is now available locally in Kenya — no need to import!
Key Features of the TDA2030

What’s in the Package and Recommended Usage Tips
What is in the package…
- 1 × Genuine TDA2030 Audio Amplifier IC
- (Heatsink not included – available separately)
Below are some essential usage tips…
- Use 470µF or higher capacitors on power supply rails
- Add a 100nF ceramic cap near the IC for high-frequency stability
- Mount on an aluminum heatsink with thermal paste
- For single supply designs, use capacitive output coupling
- Dual-supply designs are cleaner and eliminate the need for output caps
- Always mount on a heatsink to prevent overheating
- Use bypass capacitors (e.g., 100nF + 470µF) across power rails
- For dual IC bridge amplifier setups, match resistor values carefully
- Keep signal ground and power ground separate to reduce hum/noise
- Always use a good heatsink for continuous operation
- Ensure filtering capacitors are present at the power rails
- Use good quality components to avoid hum or distortion
- TDA2030 can replace TDA2030A, but not vice versa
Note: Only a few passive components (resistors, capacitors) are needed to complete your amplifier. You can wire the TDA2030 on a perfboard, use a ready-made PCB, or build it into your enclosure.
