About Us

Welcome to the Dukatronic About Us page. Inside here, you’ll learn everything you need to know about our electronic components journey. My love for electronics began when I was a small boy. My parents tell me I was in love with technology way back when I was about 5 years.

This continued through the years and in high school precisely at form 2, I was already repairing speakers by making DIY cones and doing speaker coils manually. In form 3, my uncle David introduced me to radio – we could connect a few transistors using a dry cell and we would listen to available radio channels.

Late in form three, I argued with my dad because he thought I was spying on his conversations. I had secretly made a jackpin using a nail and connected his radio to my speaker from his bedroom to my cubicle without his knowledge. Therefore I could listen to radio channels – precisely a musical program known as “late date”.

My love for electronics continued till after high school and has never stopped till now… My story and that of the Dukatronic team continue below. Be ready to learn more about us and what we are doing to make electronics and electronic components a blissful sphere…

About Us – Our Journey

Our electronics and electronic components journey began in April 1999. I was then a young man and had just cleared college with a diploma in computer packages and a certificate in basic computer and electronics repair. I studied for 3 years and in October 1998 I cleared college and was ready to start by getting a job.

After tarmacking for a while and realizing that my experience was not enough, I decided to enroll myself in a local repair workshop to gain practical knowledge. In April 1999 with the help of my parents and elder sister, I joined Taifa Electronics in Limuru – Kamirithu under Patrick. As they say, the rest is history.

Patrick took care of me and trained me to be an expert electronics repair technician. Along the way, he also introduced me to computer repair. I stayed with Patrick for 2 years and left in May of 2001 having qualified to be a fully trained repair technician for both electronics and computers.

I remember my fellow students back then with nostalgia and am always happy that all of them succeeded. Some of them got great jobs while others went ahead to start their repair workshops in different locations. For me, I decided that owning a workshop was better than being employed. For this reason, I went ahead and started my first workshop in August 2001.

I started this electronics repair workshop at my mum’s boutique in Limuru and continued with it till year 2002. In 2003, I was employed by a friend in Kimende for 1 year till the end of 2003. Cum early 2004, I now established my workshop in Karanjee – Tigoni. After two good years, I then moved to Nairobi to assist my mum at her accessories shop.

About the Birth of Dukatronic’s Journey

Since the year 2006 to the year 2016, I was on and off repair both in my workshops and as an employee. In late 2017, I decided to retire and try online stuff as I also pursued the electronic components business. In 2019, I started an electronics blog – electronics.co.ke – that was an electronic appliances and electronic components review blog.

The blog did well and fed my family through the Covid years (2020-2021) at the end of 2021, I gave up – I was stressed because I did not own a shop and lost so many customers because I could only refer them to other shops. I also realized that a majority of customers were looking for unique and unavailable components – so, I just gave up and went to a used books business…

Well, the books business did well for a few months but did badly till I closed at the beginning of 2023. The electronic components business then came back to me and in April 2023 I started the Dukatronic blog. Since I was now at home and doing jobs in the online field, I did not give the blog the attention it deserved. In fact, at one time I decided to sell the domain name but never got a serious customer. Therefore I just let the domain go – I did not register the domain when the date came at the end of 2024.

About Us – The Journey So Far

In early 2025 with AI taking away many online jobs, I thought through my options and realized that the electronic components business was my only way out. Luckily, I registered the Dukatronic domain again on April 6th, 2025, and straight ahead started the website again – this time, as an electronic components shop.

Since then I am now working on the website day and night – as I also assemble a team to help me grow the brand. I am planning on starting a shop in Nairobi – but I am available in town Luthuli Avenue to serve you. I am now selling the electronic components online and so far so good. We are receiving inquiries every day from Kenya and far beyond.
